HALVER – the Judo Club⁤ Halver (JCH) is looking to expand ⁣its reach by strengthening ties with local schools, a key topic discussed at their‍ recent annual general meeting.

Despite a stable membership, a thriving youth program, and recent athletic achievements, the club sees ⁣an opportunity to grow. “The club ⁤does such ⁤a good job.⁣ But many ‌in⁢ Halver⁣ are not known ‌to the ⁢judo ⁤club,” a member said. While the club has successfully attracted⁢ new members⁣ through trial days, ⁢they aim to broaden their appeal to ‌teenagers and young adults.

One strategy is to increase collaboration⁣ with schools in the area. According to club officials,⁢ a previous school team at the AFG⁢ (location not specified) achieved a district title, demonstrating ⁣the potential of ⁤such partnerships.

The Judo Club ⁤currently boasts 153 members, moast of ‍whom are active ⁤participants. Judo and⁤ karate programs⁣ for children are especially popular.Recent rule ⁣changes in judo now allow participants to⁢ reach the entry belt faster,a decision that has ‍been met ⁤with mixed reactions. However, the club ⁣believes that this accelerated path to initial success can ⁣be ⁤a strong motivator for young people.

The club has ‍also trained two new judges, exceeding ⁤the required number. This ⁢will provide more options,‍ especially at the‍ district championships for the ⁢U11 and U15 age groups held in Halver.

The ‌annual general‌ meeting also included recognition of long-standing members. Stefan‌ Heinrich,⁢ Jörg Krüger, Björn Roy Degenhardt, Annika Zimmermann, and Rafail‌ Becker were ⁤honored for 10 years of⁣ membership. ⁣michel Neumann was recognized ⁤for 15 years, Marco⁣ Heise and Thomas Plate for 20 years, and Maik Loosen for⁤ 25 years. Susanne Loi has been⁤ with the JCH for 30 years, while Alfred Baßler, diana Neuhaus, and ‌Walburga ⁣Trompeter were celebrated for 40‌ years of membership. Klaus Buchholz,a ⁣founding‌ member, has been with the club for 60 years.
