Pondok Aren, Indonesia – A routine parking exchange escalated into a violent altercation in Pondok Aren, Tangerang selatan (Tangsel), leaving a driver wiht facial injuries. The incident, which occurred on Monday evening, December 16th, highlights the potential for conflict over seemingly minor financial disputes.
According too Kabid Humas polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, the altercation began when a driver, identified only as SA, was approached by a parking attendant at the intersection of Jalan Camat Pondok Aren and Ciledug. The attendant demanded payment, but SA offered only Rp 2,000 (approximately $0.13 USD).
“The parking attendant refused the Rp 2,000 and demanded Rp 5,000 (approximately $0.33 USD) instead,” explained Ade Ary. “A verbal dispute ensued, and the attendant, enraged by the driver’s response, struck SA in the mouth.”
The assault left SA with a cut lip. Police from the Pondok Aren precinct are currently investigating the incident.
