Julian Gerighty, the executive overseeing The Division franchise at Ubisoft, has left the company for DICE, the studio behind Battlefield.
Gerighty announced his departure on social media just a week after promoting The Division 3 at a game showcase.During the New Game+ Showcase 2026, he stated that The Division 3 is in production and “shaping up to be a monster,” with the potential to be as impactful as the original The Division.
He added,”It’s time for me to hang up my go bag… as I go on another grand adventure.” He expressed confidence in the future of The Division and wished the teams well.

Gerighty’s departure follows a period of restructuring at Ubisoft, including a “voluntary career transition program” – essentially, asking staff to volunteer for layoffs – intended to focus resources on The Division and the Snowdrop engine. This came after the disappointing sales of Star wars Outlaws, which gerighty co-directed.
Earlier this week, Ubisoft announced an additional 55 job cuts at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm, as the voluntary redundancy scheme didn’t meet its targets. The Division 3 was announced over two years ago, and no gameplay has been shown.
Massive Entertainment reassured fans on social media, stating that the core team behind The Division remains in place.
Once an Agent, always an Agent. We’re thankful for everything you gave this universe. You’ll always be part of it. Good luck at @EA_DICE, @jgerighty 🧡 pic.twitter.com/QlzuV4XtVV
