Los Angeles, CA – Musician Julian Lennon, son of Beatles legend John Lennon, recently underwent surgery to remove melanoma skin cancer, prompting him to issue a heartfelt plea for fans to prioritize their health.
The 61-year-old singer shared his experience on X (formerly Twitter),detailing a whirlwind trip from New York,where he was promoting his latest work,back to Los Angeles for an urgent operation.
“After having just finished Good Morning America, I received a message from Dr Tess (his dermatologist), wiht some urgency to return to Los Angeles, as I had two locations on my skin, shoulder & forearm, one of which was melanoma, that should be operated on ASAP!” Lennon wrote.
Lennon, who had previously been treated by dr. Tess for skin cancer, instantly flew back to Los Angeles and underwent surgery performed by Dr.Tim Neavin. While the operation was successful,Lennon is awaiting biopsy results to confirm clear margins.
“The operation was a success, but we have yet to have the results of the biopsy, which we may not receive before Christmas…” he shared.
Despite the uncertainty, Lennon expressed gratitude for his doctors and emphasized the importance of early detection.
“This is also a timely reminder to all,to please get yourself checked out by your doctor… It only takes a short while to do so,and you may just be saving your own life,ultimately… so please,for the sake of yourself,your family and friends just go to your Dr and do what must be done,” he urged.
Lennon’s message comes just weeks after the release of his seventh studio album, Jude, a poignant tribute to the Beatles classic Hey Jude, written by Paul mccartney for a young Julian during his parents’ separation.
