Phoenix - Major League Baseball (MLB) announced Friday the suspension of Mexican pitcher Julio Urías for violating the league’s domestic violence policy. He will be eligible to return to MLB after the 2025 All-Star game.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement that Urías will be eligible to rejoin the league on July 17, 2025, at which point he can sign with any of the 30 major league teams.

The suspension stems from his arrest in September 2023 following a domestic violence incident in Los Angeles.
This is the second time Urías has faced disciplinary action for this reason. In 2019, MLB suspended him for 20 games after a similar incident.
As part of the sanction, Urías has agreed to undergo an evaluation by the Joint Board of Policies and comply with its recommendations. MLB will also continue to provide support to him and his family.
