A United Cry for Independence
Alejandro Armenta Mier, the Governor of Puebla, and José Chedraui Budib, the Mayor of Puebla, jointly led the “Frist Shout of Independence” (Primer Grito de Independencia) on September 15, 2024, in the Zócalo of Puebla City. Thousands of families attended the event, which was characterized by a celebratory atmosphere, with attendees chanting “Governor!”
The event prominently featured recognition of women and expressions of support for Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Ceremony Details and Attire
Both Governor Armenta and Mayor Chedraui appeared on the main balcony of the Municipal Palace,dressed in black suits with red ties. Their wives also wore dresses matching the red tie color. Governor Armenta, holding the Mexican flag, delivered the traditional cry for independence after a ceremony held within the Cabildo Hall. He then rang the bell and read the harangues.
