Jumanji 4: Dwayne Johnson & Kevin Hart Joke On Set of 2026 Movie

Jumanji 4: Dwayne Johnson & Kevin Hart Joke On Set of 2026 Movie

March 7, 2026 Marcus Rodriguez - Entertainment Editor Entertainment

The cast of Jumanji is keeping things lively both on and off camera as production continues on the fourth installment of the blockbuster franchise. Currently filming in a jungle location, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently found himself the unwitting subject of a playful prank orchestrated by his co-star, Kevin Hart.

Hart surreptitiously filmed Johnson enjoying a lunch break, capturing the actor deeply focused on his meal amidst the hustle of the film set. The comedian then shared the video on his Instagram account, adding humorous commentary imagining Johnson’s internal monologue – “If I don’t eat my food I get dizzy.”

Johnson, clearly amused despite the initial surprise, responded in the comments, playfully rebuking Hart with, “You MF!! I looked up at you for a second wondering what you were doing. Let the man eat in peace with his little tin, and big ass spoon.” The exchange offers a glimpse into the easygoing camaraderie between the two actors, a dynamic that has become a hallmark of the Jumanji films.

Filming for Jumanji 4 began in November 2025, and the production is slated to wrap in time for a holiday season release in 2026. While plot details remain tightly under wraps, the film promises to deliver the same blend of action, adventure, and comedy that has made the franchise a global success. The latest installment will see the return of the core cast – Johnson as Smolder Bravestone, Hart as Mouse Finbar, Jack Black as Shelly Oberon, and Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse – alongside Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Rhys Derby, Lamorne Morris, and Danny DeVito.

The addition of DeVito to the cast was a particularly welcome surprise for fans, and his recent wrap on filming was marked by a lighthearted exchange with Johnson, further showcasing the positive atmosphere on set. The production team has also been mindful of honoring the legacy of the original Jumanji film, incorporating a subtle tribute to the late Robin Williams. Johnson has been seen wearing a necklace featuring the original dice used by Williams in the 1995 movie, a gesture that speaks to the franchise’s enduring respect for its roots.

Despite the playful banter and on-set fun, there’s a bittersweet undercurrent to the production. Jumanji 4 has been announced as the final chapter in the current series, leaving fans to anticipate a satisfying conclusion to the adventures of this beloved group of characters. However, given the undeniable chemistry between Johnson and Hart, it seems likely they will collaborate on future projects.

The success of the Jumanji franchise, revitalized with the 2017 reboot Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and continued with 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level, has cemented its place as a major player in the adventure-comedy genre. Sony Pictures is banking on the fourth installment to maintain that momentum, aiming for another box office hit during the competitive holiday season. The studio has yet to reveal an official title for the film, but anticipation is building as the release date approaches.

Beyond the star power and comedic timing, the Jumanji films have resonated with audiences due to their themes of self-discovery, teamwork, and overcoming personal challenges. The characters’ journeys within the game world often mirror real-life struggles, adding a layer of emotional depth to the action-packed narrative. It remains to be seen how these themes will be explored in the final installment, but fans can expect a blend of thrilling adventure and heartfelt moments.

As filming continues, glimpses behind the scenes, like Hart’s playful video of Johnson, offer a tantalizing preview of what’s to come. The cast and crew appear to be enjoying the process, and their enthusiasm is infectious. With a December 11th release date on the horizon, audiences are eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the Jumanji saga.
