More than ₩130 billion (South Korean won) has been donated to aid in the recovery from recent wildfires that ravaged regions including ⁤Gyeongbuk’s Yeongdeok⁤ and Uiseong, and Gyeongnam’s Sancheong. This surpasses the funds raised following the tragic Sewol ferry disaster.

According ‍to the Central Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, ⁤donations collected through‍ disaster ​relief organizations totaled‍ approximately ₩132.8 billion​ as of 5 p.m. the day before ⁣yesterday.

The 2022 wildfires in Gyeongbuk and Gangwon-do saw ⁣donations exceeding ₩83 billion. Fundraising efforts after​ the Sewol ferry disaster, which occurred on april ​16,‌ 2014, amassed ₩12.9 billion over four years, from that date untill August 2018.

Psychological Support ⁢Offered to Displaced Residents

Following the wildfires, authorities provided psychological counseling and first aid, reaching 11,129 individuals.

Despite these efforts, a significant number ​of people remain displaced. As of today, 2,199 households, comprising 3,633⁢ individuals, are still residing in temporary shelters, accommodations, or with relatives.

SPC donated ₩300 million to the Yeongnam region. Continental Ajou, led by⁢ CEO Lee Kyu-chul, made a donation of ₩100 million, marking​ the first major contribution from ⁢a domestic ⁣law firm. ⁤This donation is ⁤reportedly linked to the wishes of Kim Jin-han, a representative lawyer at Kim Jin-han, who hails from⁤ the affected​ region.

The entertainment industry ​has‌ also shown strong support. BTS‍ member Jungkook donated ₩1​ billion, while fellow member V contributed ​₩200 million, and Suga donated ₩100 million.
