The NFL suspended referee Adrian Hill for one game and line judge Jeff Seeman for two games without pay on Monday following separate unprofessional confrontations with players during Week 4 games, as reported by Just The News and Fox News.

Jeff Seeman Suspension Over MetLife Stadium Profanity

The disciplinary action against Seeman stems from an exchange late in the fourth quarter on Oct. 4, 2026, during the Arizona Cardinals game against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. Cardinals tight end Trey McBride voiced frustration over an unflagged contact play on third down, prompting Seeman to turn toward the player and direct profanity at him, according to Fox News. Broadcast cameras captured the interaction as McBride backed away and pointed directly at a lens to signal the incident was caught live.

This kind of behavior from an official towards a player is unacceptable. Players are consistently held accountable when the roles are reversed. We expect the NFL to hold officials to the same standard.

Adrian Hill Incident During Vikings And Dolphins Matchup

The second suspension involved referee Adrian Hill during the matchup between the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings. During a live play, Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon blocked Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson directly into Hill, knocking the referee down. Hill stood up, confronted Wilson face to face, and ordered him back to the huddle without throwing any flags.

Following the game, Wilson downplayed the interaction during interviews covered by Fox News.

That was funny, honestly. I ended up apologizing to him and explained the situation. He was cool about it. He understood what was going on. He just said he didn’t want us fighting, me and [Ollie Gordon]. He said he was just trying to break us up.

NFL Issues Public Suspensions for Officials

NFL Vice President of Officiating Ramon George issued the discipline against both officials. According to Fox News reporting, the league typically addresses such incidents behind closed doors through internal grading adjustments, making the public suspensions a departure from standard internal handling.
