Justin Bieber headlined Coachella on April 11, 2026, marking his debut performance at the festival with a set that prioritized vocal performance and nostalgia over large-scale production.

The performance, which lasted nearly 90 minutes, featured a stripped-back approach. Bieber performed on a stage dominated by a halfpipe-looking structure, opting for a set without backup dancers, intricate props, or changes in outfit and stage design.

The aesthetic of the show leaned heavily into Bieber’s Swag era. During the set, the artist used a laptop on stage to play YouTube clips of his early career, lipsyncing over videos of hits such as Baby, That Should Be Me, and Never Say Never. He also performed several covers of songs he had originally uploaded to YouTube as a child.

Setlist and Collaborations

Bieber performed a total of 34 songs, including 17 of his more recent tracks. The setlist included a variety of his hits and newer material, such as Speed Demon, First Place, and Everything Hallelujah.

The performance featured several high-profile guest appearances. The Kid Laroi joined Bieber to perform their hit song Stay. Later in the set, Dijon joined the stage for a performance of their Swag collaboration, Devotion.

The final portion of the show included a series of collaborations with international and contemporary artists:

  • Tems appeared for the first live performance of I Think You’re Special from Swag II.
  • Tems and Wizkid joined Bieber for a performance of Essence.
  • Mk.gee closed the headlining set by playing bass guitar on the song Daisies.

Bieber also performed a medley that touched upon previous collaborations, including Beauty and a Beat, Confident, and Where Are Ü Now.

Performance Context and Contrast

The minimalist nature of Bieber’s set stood in contrast to the performance by Sabrina Carpenter, who headlined the festival on April 10, 2026, with a show described as grandiose.

Bieber’s approach focused on an intimate connection with the audience. He spent a portion of the set interacting with what appeared to be the Coachella YouTube livestream comments.

Wow wow wow, to be up close and personal with you guys, this is special. This is a night I dreamed about for a long time, so to be here is amazing.

The headlining appearance followed a period of significant change for the pop star. Prior to the festival, Bieber had teased the performance during a Twitch live stream in October, stating he was getting inspired and preparing a significant show for the event.

Bieber also performed a preview set at the Roxy before his Coachella appearance. His return to the stage follows a performance at the 68th GRAMMY Awards on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
