Kakao Games has announced the signing of a global distribution contract for the highly anticipated AAA game “Project Q” (tentative title), developed by its subsidiary Lionheart Studio.
AAA games are renowned for their exceptional quality and high production costs, typically exceeding $200 million. “Project Q” is set to join the ranks of these masterpieces, boasting cutting-edge graphics and a seamless open world.
Based on the Nordic mythological epic “Eda”, “Project Q” is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that supports mobile and PC Cross Play. The game features a fully 3D seamless open world with a quarter view, leveraging the advanced capabilities of Unreal Engine 5.
Lion Heart Studio, the developer behind the successful IP “Odin: Balhala Rising”, is working towards a mid-2025 launch for “Project Q”. The game is expected to make its debut at “G-STAR 2024”, the largest game expo in Korea, on November 14th.
Through this contract, Kakao Games has secured the global service rights for “Project Q”, excluding China, and strengthened its game lineup. This move is set to accelerate the company’s entry into overseas markets.
Kakao Games CEO Han Sang-woo expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Kakao Games will bring you the unique fun of ‘Project Q’ based on its long-term publishing capabilities and Lion Heart Studio’s development capabilities.”
