Patrick Kane became the National Hockey League’s all-time leading scorer born in the United States on Thursday, January 25, 2024. The Detroit Red Wings forward recorded his 1,375th career point with an assist on Ben Chiarot’s goal at 9:52 of the second period against the Washington Capitals at Little Caesars Arena.

The 37-year-old veteran, currently in his 19th NHL season, surpassed the previous record held by Mike Modano, who had set the mark on November 7, 2007, with his 1,233rd point to overtake Phil Housley. Kane tied Modano’s record on january 20, 2024, against the New Jersey Devils.

patrick Kane was originally drafted 5th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He played 16 seasons with the Blackhawks, winning three Stanley Cups (2010, 2013, 2015). He was traded to the new York Rangers in February 2023 and then signed with the detroit Red Wings in July 2023. As of January 25, 2024, Kane has played 1,142 regular season games, scoring 451 goals and 924 assists.
