Singer dinand Woesthoff delivered a moving performance during 3FM Serious Request, paying tribute to baby Zen, who tragically passed away after a week due to a metabolic disorder.
Woesthoff’s performance, a collaboration with KANE, was inspired by Chris, Zen’s father, who shared a self-written song about his son on Instagram.
“I was blown away by Chris’s song and wanted to reach out,” Woesthoff shared. “To my dismay, I realized he had actually messaged me months ago. It’s moments like these that make me frustrated with Instagram, because I don’t always see all the messages.”
Touched by chris’s story, Woesthoff immediately called him that evening, inviting him to perform alongside KANE during the annual charity event.Chris accepted, seeing it as a way to honor his son’s memory.
“I promised him that Zen’s death wouldn’t be in vain,” Woesthoff said emotionally.

Dinand Woesthoff: It all began with Chris, Zen’s father. He shared a self-written song about Zen on Instagram, and it simply blew me away. To be honest, I was frustrated with myself because I realized he had actually messaged me months ago and I hadn’t seen it. Moments like these make me wish I could catch every message I get.
ND3: You decided to reach out to Chris, and eventually, he joined you for the performance. Can you describe that experience?
DW: I called Chris that very evening. His story just touched me deeply, and I knew I wanted to do something to honor zen’s memory.Thankfully, he was open to the idea of performing with us during 3FM Serious request. He saw it as a way to keep Zen’s spirit alive, and I promised him that his son’s death wouldn’t be in vain.
ND3: The performance resonated deeply with viewers. What do you hope people took away from it?
DW: I hope it brought comfort to those who have experienced similar loss. I hope it reminded people of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. Most importantly, I hope it helped keep Zen’s memory alive. He was a gorgeous soul who touched so many lives in his short time here.
