Moroto District Pledges Action on Corruption After Damning Report

Following the karamoja Anti-Corruption Coalition’s (KACC) dissemination of the Auditor General’s findings for the 2023/2024 financial year,Moroto District officials are vowing to tackle corruption. The dissemination took place Tuesday in Moroto Municipality.
Aol mark, the assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC), expressed gratitude for KACC’s work in combating corruption in the Karamoja region.The Auditor General’s report highlighted several issues, including delayed disbursement of funds to SACCO beneficiaries under the Parish Development Model (PDM), non-functional PDM committees, discrepancies in pupil enrollment data (EMIS), and a lack of annual financial statements from some schools. The report underscores the need for improved financial management and oversight to ensure effective anti-corruption measures and proper fund allocation within the district.
Anoku Lambert, the deputy district internal security officer, said authorities will soon monitor all PDM fund recipients in Moroto. Dr. francis Inangolet,the district production officer,noted a study on PDM’s impact in Moroto will be released soon.
