Dharmasthala Mass Burial Case: Second Complainant Surfaces, Claims ‌Knowledge of “Unlawful Burials”

Bengaluru: The ongoing⁢ inquiry into the alleged mass burial case in Dharmasthala has gained a new dimension with the appearance of a second complainant,⁢ jayanth T. He has⁤ approached the Special Investigation Team (SIT) with firsthand accounts of multiple “unlawful burials” ⁢in the region, perhaps offering ⁣crucial insights to uncover further grave sites.

Jayanth T informed the media ⁤after lodging his complaint with the‍ SIT officials‌ that he had ‍personally‍ witnessed these burial activities at various locations. He‍ expressed confidence that his testimony could significantly aid the SIT in identifying additional burial grounds, which ⁢have become the focus of intense scrutiny.

This development comes as the SIT is actively engaged in systematic excavations at several⁣ sites along the Netravathi riverbank. These ⁣excavations are being conducted based on an initial complaint filed by an anonymous individual, which triggered the comprehensive probe. ‍While earlier excavation ‌efforts at one ⁣site yielded partial skeletal fragments, other locations have so far proven unproductive. The SIT ⁢was constituted‌ by the state government in response to serious allegations that have surfaced over the past two decades, encompassing claims of mass murder, rape,‌ and illegal burials in Dharmasthala. The initial anonymous complainant, a former sanitation⁢ worker whose identity remains undisclosed, alleged that he was ⁣employed‍ in Dharmasthala between⁢ 1995 and 2014. He claimed to have‍ been compelled to bury numerous bodies, including those of women and minors, some of which reportedly showed signs of‌ sexual assault. This individual⁢ has since formally⁣ recorded his statement before a magistrate ⁤concerning these grave accusations. The emergence of Jayanth‍ T’s testimony is expected to bolster the ongoing investigation and ⁣potentially shed more light on the extent of the alleged crimes.
