Actor Vijay Denies Duty for Karur Stampede
Actor and tamilaga vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay told investigators Monday that neither he nor his party were responsible for the September 27, 2025, stampede in Karur that resulted in 41 deaths and over 60 injuries. sources familiar with the investigation said vijay also stated he left the rally venue as he feared his continued presence would exacerbate chaos.
The TVK chief appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Delhi after being summoned earlier this month.He arrived via chartered flight at 10:30 a.m. and was questioned for over six hours by the CBI’s Anti-Corruption unit, which is investigating the incident.Investigators are focusing on potential delays and safety lapses that may have contributed to the tragedy.
According to sources,other TVK functionaries questioned previously have offered similar statements. These accounts will be compared with statements from police officials,some of whom have suggested that a delay on Vijay’s part played a role in the stampede.

Vijay has not been called for further questioning as of this report.
