Kate Beckinsale Alleges Unsafe Set Conditions, Injury on “Canary Black”
Actress Kate beckinsale is claiming negligence and unsafe working conditions on the set of the film Canary Black led to a knee injury in late 2022. Beckinsale’s legal complaint, filed May 21, alleges producers prioritized profit over safety, leading to hazardous conditions.
The complaint details concerns raised by Beckinsale and her team regarding long workdays, sometimes exceeding 15 hours, inadequate equipment, insufficient medical personnel, and a lack of clear communication about stunt expectations.
Beckinsale initially filed the suit anonymously in December before amending it with her name. The updated complaint includes email exchanges between her agent,Shani Rosenzweig, and John Zois.
Rosenzweig expressed frustration that no concrete plan was in place to address the safety issues. She noted Beckinsale consistently arrived on set, only to discover unexpectedly long workdays. After Beckinsale’s injury, Rosenzweig stated, “If you’re trying to kill a person, you’re doing a great job.”
Zois reportedly acknowledged the unsustainable pace of filming, replying, “I don’t know what else to say othre than you’re right,” and agreed to shorten Beckinsale’s workdays.
