Actress Kate Beckinsale is honoring her late father with a new tattoo. Ahead of Father’s Day on June 15, Beckinsale
revealed the body art in a black-and-white video posted too Instagram on Thursday.The tattoo, located on her upper
arm, reads “Fatherless scum.”
The phrase is a reference to David bowie’s 1979 song, “Fantastic Voyage,” which Beckinsale used as the video’s
soundtrack. She tagged tattoo artist Endry Stymest in the post,captioning it,”Gearing up for Father’s Day with
@endrystymest and @davidbowie.” This personal role as a daughter is clearly important to her.
Beckinsale’s father, Richard Beckinsale, known for his role in “Porridge,” died of a heart attack in 1979 at age 31.
Her stepfather, TV director Roy Battersby, died in January 2024 at 87. In March, she shared a heartfelt tribute to
both men, reflecting on her first year without a father figure.
“This is my first year without any father figure at all for a long, long time.How I miss you. How familiar this
falling through an abyss,” Beckinsale wrote in March. “How horribly like home falling with no one to catch you feels.
