Kathleen Kennedy to Step Down as President of Lucasfilm by End of Year
In a surprising development, Kathleen Kennedy, the highly respected figure behind Lucasfilm, will be stepping down from her role as President of the company by the end of the year. The announcement, reported by Matt Belloni’s Puck newsletter, concludes her tenure of over a decade at the helm, effectively ending her influential leadership within the cinema industry.
According to the latest report Kennedy had planned to step down by the end of 2024, when her contract was due to expire, and had even arranged an exit interview with a reporter

However, it is reported she decided to stay an extra year and there are also rumors, according to three sources close to Belloni, that she had already filled in Disney and several friends and associates, Neither Disney nor Kennedy’s publicist has offered a public statement. It appears the most we will hear from Kennedy on her departure will likely only come from the roles she had agreed to cover until departure.
Disney’s silence, and Star Wars
productions next direction remains a complete unknown. Speculation is rife, with Hollywood industry experts and fans alike waiting for an official release regarding Kennedy’s successor.
