netflix is hoping that its new thriller, “A House of Dynamite,” directed by Kathryn Bigelow, will be an Oscar contender.

The film, formerly known as “Untitled Kathryn Bigelow Project,” stars Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Greta Lee, and Tracy Letts.
Written by Noah Oppenheim, ”A House of Dynamite” centers on a rogue missile headed for the United States. Government officials race against the clock to determine the source of the attack.
Netflix will give “A House of Dynamite” a limited theatrical release in October before it begins streaming Oct. 24.
This marks Bigelow’s first theatrically released feature as 2017’s “Detroit.” During the intervening years, she executive produced J.C. Chandor’s “Triple Frontier” and directed commercials.
Bigelow won the Best Director Oscar in 2010 for “The Hurt Locker,” becoming the first woman to achieve this honor. the film also won Best Picture,defeating James cameron’s “Avatar.”
