LONG BEACH,Calif. — Keawe Browne, a versatile 6-foot-6, 230-pound athlete from Corona Centennial High School, is experiencing a surge in his college recruitment. The four-star prospect, projected to play tight end at the next level, now holds at least 16 offers after a standout performance at the Corona Centennial Showcase.
Browne’s ability to play multiple positions, including receiver, tight end, and defensive end, has made him a sought-after recruit. Top college programs are now vying for his commitment.
“That’s everything I could ask for,” Browne saeid. “I put in the work to get where I’m supposed to be. It’s been a dream from when I started playing football in first grade, and I love how it’s all coming together. It’s been exciting.”
After focusing on defensive end earlier in his career, Browne’s transition to H-back and receiver has showcased his athleticism. He plans to contribute on both sides of the ball during his senior year at Corona Centennial. This versatility has substantially boosted his profile on the national recruiting scene.
“I picked up like seven offers as my showcase,and I still have schools coming in,and they’re going to watch me practice,” browne said. “It’s been exciting, and I’m going to keep on playing and keep on working.”
Among the schools showing strong interest, USC holds a special appeal for Browne.
“USC is USC,” Browne said. “Everyone knows that name. I like them. It would be cool to play for my hometown.They’re saying they like what they see, and they’re only taking two tight ends this year. No one has committed yet, so it’s open for anyone, but I really like what they’re doing over there, how they started recruiting everyone in their backyard.”
Oregon, Browne’s childhood dream school, remains in contact, though an offer has yet to materialize. The Ducks’ interest is definitely something to monitor.
“They came by this week, the DB coach, and they said they’re going to hit me up soon,” Browne said.
