Kelly Clarkson to Conclude Daytime Talk Show After Seven Seasons
The Daytime Emmy Award-winning talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” hosted by Grammy-winning musician Kelly Clarkson, will conclude after its current seventh season. Clarkson announced on Monday that she has decided to step away from hosting the daily talk show to prioritize spending time with her children.
“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ both in Los Angeles and New York,” Clarkson said in a statement. “This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.’ Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”
The syndicated talk show premiered in September 2019, following Clarkson’s success as the first winner of “American Idol” in 2002 and her return to television as a coach on “The Voice” in 2018. The show became known for Clarkson’s approachable charm, interviews with celebrities and everyday people, and the popular “Kellyoke” segment, where she performed covers of other artists’ songs.
Clarkson expressed gratitude for those who contributed to the show’s success. “I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner,” she added. “This isn’t goodbye. I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there and you may catch me on ‘The Voice’ from time to time. … You never know where I might show up next. But for now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.”
The seventh season of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” began in September and production will continue as planned. Clarkson will continue to host throughout the season, with plans for yet-to-be-announced guest hosts. Episodes for Season 7 are scheduled to run through September.
Reports surfaced as early as spring 2025 suggesting Clarkson was considering ending the show, coinciding with several absences from tapings. As of January 20, 2026, multiple sources indicated that the show was unlikely to return for an eighth season, as Clarkson’s contract with NBC is set to expire in 2026. One source described the exit as “definite,” while others suggested the future of the show remained undecided.
However, a representative for “The Kelly Clarkson Show” clarified on January 27, 2026, that there were currently no plans to end the series after its seventh season, despite online speculation. The representative stated that NBC would make any updates regarding the show directly and emphasized that the show was not even halfway through its current season.
Despite the clarification, reports from January 20, 2026, indicated that Clarkson may be prioritizing family and faith, and that the show might be at the bottom of her list of priorities. The staff of the show reportedly faced “uncertainty” as rumors of cancellation increased, though some insiders cautioned against jumping to conclusions, noting that no final decision had been made.
In August 2025, reports indicated Clarkson postponed her Las Vegas residency to prioritize family. Her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, reportedly died in August 2025 at age 48.
