For fans eagerly anticipating a return of Kelly Kelly at WWE’s Evolution II, the news of her absence was met with disappointment and, inevitably, speculation. Now, the former Divas Champion is speaking candidly about her decision, putting family firmly at the heart of it.
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, Kelly Kelly, real name Barbara Blank, addressed rumors that she declined the appearance due to demanding a singles match. “Somebody on the dirt sheets was like, ‘Oh, somebody in the higher ups said that she only wants to come back if she has a match’, which coudl not have been farther from the truth,” she stated emphatically. “I didn’t need a match to come back.”
The real reason, she explained, was far more personal. Evolution II, held in Atlanta earlier this year, clashed with a precious weekend off, a weekend she wanted to dedicate to her children.”So when I got the call, it was in Atlanta, obviously. Again, it was one of the weekends, the only weekend I had off, and my kids, I think they had something going on. And I feel like when I come back, I want my kids to see me there and they wouldn’t been able to make it,” Kelly shared.
