Kendall Garvey: Dunn Gaherin’s Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Kendall Garvey, a senior swimmer at Babson College, received the first Dunn Gaherin’s Scholar-Athlete of the Week award for the winter season. Garvey achieved impressive results at the Fisher Invitational held at Roger Williams. She finished second in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:40.07 and secured fourth place in the A final of the 500 free at 5:25.09, which is her season best. This fall, she has seven top-three finishes across five meets, including wins in the 500 free and 1000 free during Babson’s meet against Stonehill on November 15.

Garvey holds the school record for the 1650 free, having set a time of 18:16.30 at last year’s NEWMAC Championships. She also achieved personal bests in the 100 free (57.16), 500 free (5:24.90), and 100 free (11:05.28) during that meet. Her academic achievements include being a two-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference selection and earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in 2023.

Babson College is currently 5-3 in dual meets this season. The team will compete again against Amherst on January 3. The Dunn Gaherin’s Scholar-Athlete of the Week award, established in 2020, recognizes junior and senior athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.
