Kendrick Lamar & 2028 Olympics: LA Organizers Hint at Role
Kendrick lamar Possible for 2028 Los Angeles Olympics Ceremony
Kendrick Lamar, fresh off his Super Bowl LIX halftime show, is being considered for the 2028 Los angeles Olympics opening ceremony. Olympics organizers told The Associated Press that the Grammy-winning artist’s involvement is a strong possibility.
Casey Wasserman, chairman of the organizing committee, aims for the 2028 Summer Games to represent a “rebirth” for Los Angeles, especially after recent wildfires. The city’s resilience and wildfire recovery efforts will be a core theme.
Wasserman, who also heads an international talent agency representing lamar, suggested the Los Angeles icon would likely play a central role in the festivities. The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics are expected to showcase the city’s spirit and determination.
“Fortunately in my day job I represent Kendrick Lamar,” Wasserman told the AP. “he is truly an L.A. icon, so I think it would be a pretty fair bet that Kendrick will be involved in the Olympics in Los Angeles in some way.”
Lamar recently headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans, featuring SZA, Samuel L. Jackson, and Serena Williams. He performed his Grammy-winning hit, “Not Like Us.”
Wasserman noted that organizers were blessed the wildfires caused no major damage to Olympic venues. The immediate priority remains assisting those displaced by the fires.
What’s next
Organizers will continue planning the opening ceremony, focusing on themes of rebirth and community resilience, with potential involvement from Kendrick Lamar.
