A 24-year-old primary school teacher from West Bengal assigned to Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jehanabad, Bihar, found herself in the throes of controversy after making disparaging comments about the civic sense of the state’s residents. A viral video surfaced, capturing the teacher’s discontent over her inaugural posting and her derogatory remarks against Bihar. Her comments provoked a torrent of criticism, and the political establishment did not take them lightly. Lok Janshakti Party MP Shambhavi Choudhary swiftly lodged a complaint against Deepali, prompting immediate action from the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).

On February 25, KVS suspended Deepali from her duties, effective immediately. She has been reassigned to Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mashrak, Chhapra in Saran district for the duration of her suspension.

As per provisions of rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, Deepali, the primary teacher on probation, posted at KVS (Jehanabad), is suspended with immediate effect. She will report to KVS, Mashrakh, in Saran district.
