BOSTON (AP) — John Korir of Kenya surged to victory in the Boston Marathon on Monday, finishing with a time of 2:04:45.Despite an early stumble, the 28-year-old Korir, also the 2024 Chicago Marathon champion, broke away from the pack after roughly 30 kilometers, securing the win with the second-fastest time in Boston Marathon history. He crossed the finish line 19 seconds ahead of Alphonce Simbu of Tanzania.
Korir’s victory follows in the footsteps of his brother,Wesley Korir,who won the Boston Marathon in 2012.The brothers are now the first siblings to both claim victory in the prestigious race.
