Ketamine Queen Jasveen Sangha Sentenced to 15 Years for Matthew Perry’s Death

Jasveen Sangha, a drug dealer known by the moniker the Ketamine Queen, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on April 8, 2026, for her role in the overdose death of actor Matthew Perry. The sentencing took place during a hearing at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Garnett handed down the 15-year term, which matches the sentence recommended by federal prosecutors. In addition to the prison sentence, Sangha was ordered to serve three years of supervised release. This penalty is the harshest received by any of the five co-defendants involved in the criminal case.

The sentencing follows a guilty plea Sangha entered last fall regarding five federal felony charges. These charges included one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of distribution of ketamine and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.

Details of the Overdose and Investigation

Matthew Perry, who rose to international fame for his role as Chandler Bing on the NBC sitcom Friends, was found dead in a jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023. The 54-year-old actor had a well-documented, decades-long struggle with substance abuse.

A subsequent criminal investigation revealed a network of individuals who supplied the fatal dose of ketamine. According to court records, Perry obtained the drug from Sangha. The investigation further detailed that a syringe was provided by Salvador Plasencia, and the drug was administered to Perry on the day of his death by his personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. Two other individuals, Mark Chavez and Erik Fleming, were also identified as part of the drug distribution network.

Sangha’s sentence is the second of the five defendants to be finalized. Salvador Plasencia, a physician who pleaded guilty to facilitating the ketamine supply to Perry, was previously sentenced to 30 months in prison.

Background of the ‘Ketamine Queen’

Jasveen Sangha was born on July 22, 1983, in London. Of Punjabi origin, she is the daughter of Baljeet Singh Chhokar and entrepreneur Nilem Singh. Her grandparents were successful in the fashion retail industry in east London. Following her mother’s remarriage, Sangha moved to Calabasas, California, where she completed her high school education in 2001.

Sangha pursued higher education at the University of California, Irvine, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in social sciences. She later moved back to London to obtain an M.B.A. From the Hult International Business School in 2010. Professionally, she was associated with the Stiletto Nail Bar, a business located in Studio City, Los Angeles.

However, prosecutors noted in court filings that Sangha did not appear to hold legitimate employment from 2019 onward. Instead, she utilized her apartment in a midrise complex in North Hollywood as a hub to produce, stockpile, and sell illicit drugs. As part of her plea agreement, Sangha acknowledged that her residence had functioned as a distribution center starting no later than 2019, leading associates and customers to refer to her as the Ketamine Queen.

Court Proceedings and Statements

During the proceedings, federal prosecutors presented a 24-page document describing Sangha as a drug dealer who sold drugs that hurt people. The prosecutors argued that Sangha exhibited cold callousness and disregard for life, alleging that she continued to sell drugs even after learning they had caused Perry’s death.

She chose profits over people, and her actions have caused immense pain to the victims’ families and loved ones.

In her defense, Sangha’s lawyers submitted a 16-page response arguing that she had accepted responsibility for her criminal conduct and requested that the court impose a sentence of time served. Sangha has been in federal custody since her arrest in August 2024.

Addressing the court, Sangha expressed remorse for her actions, citing poor choices and horrible decisions that ultimately proved tragic. She stated that she prays for forgiveness daily and thanked the court for providing her with the harshest reality check of her life.
