Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that Avengers: Secret Wars will not be a two-part film and will not trigger a reboot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Feige stated that while he uses comic book roadmaps for storytelling, the project will not restart the franchise’s continuity.

The comments come as Marvel Studios prepares for a high-volume release window. Additionally, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated for theatrical release next week.

Avengers: Secret Wars Production and Continuity

Feige explicitly denied rumors that Avengers: Secret Wars would be split into two separate movies, telling Horowitz, "Not in this world." He further addressed speculation regarding a franchise reboot, which would theoretically reset the MCU timeline or characters.

Avengers: Secret Wars Production and Continuity

Feige noted that his approach to the narrative is informed by previous comic book runs, specifically the Secret Wars storyline written by Jonathan Hickman approximately 10 years ago. He described that specific comic run as a "nice roadmap" for the studio’s future direction.

The film has a targeted opening date of December 17, 2027. This follows the release of Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2025.

Adam Driver and MCU Casting Rumors

Feige addressed reports linking actor Adam Driver to the roles of Magneto or Mr. Sinister in upcoming X-Men films. Driver was previously linked to the role of Mr. Fantastic before Pedro Pascal was cast.

According to Feige, the studio has had numerous conversations with Driver over the years, but the actor has consistently declined the offers.

Many, many, many [conversations]…It’s no secret we’d like to [work with him], but it’s a tradition to zoom with him and passes. That’s a long-lived tradition. It couldn’t be any more cordial. He’s usually upfront about how he’s feeling.

Status of the Blade Reboot

The studio head also discussed the stalled Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali. Ali was first announced for the role in 2019, but the project has faced a series of creative setbacks that prevented it from entering production.

Kevin Feige Interview On 'Blade' Status, Wesley Snipes And 'Deadpool & Wolverine'

Feige took personal responsibility for the project’s lack of progress, contrasting the situation with the return of Wesley Snipes in Deadpool & Wolverine.

I’m feeling very excited that we got Wesley back for a time in Deadpool & Wolverine, and like a gigantic loser and failure that we didn’t get off the ground with Mahershala.
