Professional wrestling veteran Kevin Nash has publicly aligned himself with recent comments made by William Regal, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing safety and minimizing the risk of neck injuries in modern wrestling. Nash echoed similar concerns previously voiced by Arn Anderson, stating that the fundamental goal of professional wrestling is the mutual protection of performers.
Regal recently issued a warning to wrestlers regarding the dangers of neck injuries, as reported by wrestlingnews.co.
“The Art is Leaving in the same Shape”
Speaking on the Kliq This YouTube show, Nash articulated a core principle of wrestling: “The beauty of this business is it’s suppose to be a fucking work, man. You’re supposed to go to the ring, and when you leave the ring 17 minutes later, you’re supposed to be in the exact same shape. That’s the art of it, yeah. If you’re in a fucking neck board with the fucking medics around you, you have failed.”
Criticism of High-risk spots
Nash specifically criticized the increasing prevalence of complex, high-flying maneuvers that require extensive readiness. He likened these spots to knowingly endangering oneself, stating, “If it’s a spot that you’re both on the top rope and it takes you guys 11 minutes to fucking skip, just like, really, you know that’s like having a premonition that you’re going to get an auto rack in a half hour, and you just say, ‘You know what? You go to leave your house. You just go back in the house and put the keys on the fucking kitchen table.'”
