Milwaukee Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. Has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, a procedure that officially ends his season.
The Bucks announced that the surgery took place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in Vail, Colorado. The procedure was performed by Dr. Tom Hackett at The Steadman Clinic.
The season-ending operation follows a prolonged period of injury struggles for the 25-year-old guard. Porter had been held out of action since March 19 due to synovitis, which is inflammation in the knee. He had previously missed a stretch of games from March 4 to March 10 due to the same issue.
A Season of Persistent Injuries
The complications with Porter’s right knee began during the season opener. According to Milwaukee coach Doc Rivers, the issues started eight minutes into the first game of the season.
When you look at how he played he had a hell of a year and was going to have even a better year but the injury thing caught him eight minutes into our first game and he never really recovered from that.

The trajectory of his season was further impacted by an ankle sprain suffered in the first quarter of that opening game. While attempting to work his way back from the ankle injury, Porter sustained a torn meniscus, leading to the first surgery of his career on November 3.
In addition to the knee and ankle complications, Porter also dealt with an oblique strain during the campaign. His final appearance on the court occurred on March 17.
On-Court Performance and Statistics
Despite the physical setbacks, Porter provided significant offensive production when available. He appeared in 38 games throughout the season, averaging 17.4 points, 7.4 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game.

His statistical contributions included:
- Nine double-doubles in points and assists
- One double-double in points and rebounds
- Two triple-doubles
The emotional toll of the injuries was evident in a conversation between Porter and Rivers on Sunday, April 5, 2026. Porter told his coach, Man, I didn’t come through for you.
Rivers dismissed the sentiment, replying, No, you’re fine. You just got injured. It’s part of the game and it happens.
Future Outlook
Porter, who will turn 26 years old on May 4, now faces a recovery period following the April 7 procedure.
Regarding his professional status, Porter holds a player option for the next season valued at $5.3 million.
