London, UK – Actor Kevin Spacey is facing new allegations of assault, with a former actor claiming Spacey forced open his mouth with his fingers and thumbs during an incident at the Old Vic theater bar.The alleged assault is part of a broader legal claim against the Hollywood star and the theatre itself.
The Alleged Incident at the Old Vic
The accusations stem from an incident that reportedly occurred later in the year, during the run of a show at the Old Vic. According to Ms. Gumbel, representing the claimant, Mr. Cannon, the encounter took place at the Old Vic bar.
Mr. spacey allegedly approached Mr. Cannon and said, “I hear you have a dirty secret,” before adding, “Open up.” Ms. Gumbel stated,”Kevin Spacey then forced open the claimant’s mouth with his fingers and thumbs and commented ‘quite a bad boy’ before the claimant could pull away.”
Following this alleged assault, Mr. Cannon reportedly left the bar. The claimant’s legal team asserts that this act constituted another assault for which Kevin Spacey was responsible, and for which the second and/or third defendants (presumably connected to the Old Vic) were vicariously liable.
Reporting the Allegations
The claimant reportedly reported this complaint again to the Old Vic on October 31, 2017, after the theatre established a confidential complaints email.
Ms. Gumbel further emphasized that the alleged assaults were carried out by Mr. Spacey in the course of his work for the organisations connected to the Old Vic.This context, she argued, makes the theatre “vicariously liable” for the alleged assaults that occurred within the scope of a theatre production.
Legal Representatives Respond
Law firms Carter-ruck, representing Mr. Spacey, and Clyde & Co, representing the companies in question, have been approached for comment on these latest allegations. The legal proceedings are ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the case progresses.
