Keyshawn Davis’s reign as WBO lightweight champion ended abruptly after he failed to ⁣make weight for his ⁣scheduled fight ‍against Edwin De⁢ Los Santos. ⁤Davis, a promising young fighter, weighed in at 139.3 pounds, exceeding⁢ the 135-pound limit by ⁤4.3 pounds, resulting in ⁤him being stripped of the ⁢title.

De⁣ Los Santos, who weighed in at 134.7 pounds, remains eligible to ⁢win the vacant⁢ WBO lightweight title if he defeats Davis. Though,⁢ the fight’s continuation is uncertain.

Sampson Lewkowicz, De Los⁤ Santos’ ⁤promoter, expressed doubt about the fight proceeding. “We are still waiting for⁣ a negotiation,” Lewkowicz said. “In this moment, there is ‍no fight. (Davis) is irresponsible. ⁢He’s a not professional.”

Davis’ promoter, Bob arum of Top ⁤Rank, also criticized Davis’s weight-cutting efforts. “You can tell if a guy‍ is trying to make⁣ weight and just⁣ can’t,”⁢ Arum said. “You can⁢ see that he’s⁤ dehydrated.⁣ That wasn’t‍ the case with Keyshawn.
