Tracking Progress Toward Global Malaria Targets
Overview
A new dashboard from the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) tracks progress toward global malaria targets, focusing on 30 high-burden countries. These countries, including those partnering with the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and three in the Greater Mekong Subregion of Southeast Asia, collectively account for nearly 90% of global malaria cases and deaths. The data presented are sourced from the World Health Organization’s (WHO) World Malaria Report 2024.
the dashboard’s underlying data is available for download as an Excel file, allowing for self-reliant analysis and verification. KFF intends to regularly update the dashboard with new data as it becomes available, providing an ongoing assessment of malaria control efforts.

Data and Methodology
The KFF dashboard utilizes data from the WHO’s World Malaria Report 2024, a extensive assessment of global malaria trends. The report compiles data reported by national malaria control programs and estimates from the WHO. Key indicators tracked include malaria incidence, mortality rates, and coverage of malaria interventions such as insecticide-treated nets and artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs).
