Essex County Cricket club has secured the services of Indian left-arm seamer Khaleel ahmed for the remainder of the season. the move aims to strengthen their bowling options in both the One-Day Cup and the County Championship. Ahmed’s role is anticipated to be meaningful.
Ahmed,27,brings a wealth of experience to the Essex squad. He has represented India in 11 One-Day Internationals and 18 T20 matches. Earlier this month, he also featured for India A against England Lions, showcasing his skills on English soil.
Before joining Essex, Ahmed played for several Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, including the Chennai super Kings. He also has experience in List A and first-class matches for rajasthan.
Chris Silverwood, Essex’s director of cricket, highlighted the unique dimension Ahmed brings to the team. “As a left-arm seamer, he offers something different and will add a new dynamic to the squad in both the One-Day Cup and the County Championship,” Silverwood said.
Notably, Ahmed will not be available for selection in the T20 Blast.
