Kia Supercharges EV6 GT with Power Boost and Tech Upgrades for 2025
The high-performance electric crossover gets a facelift and a notable power bump, along with a larger battery and updated interior.
The Kia EV6 GT, already a formidable electric performance car, is getting even more impressive for 2025. Kia unveiled the refreshed EV6 GT, showcasing a range of upgrades that focus on power, technology, and design.
Building on the updates introduced to the standard EV6 earlier this year, the GT model adopts the same striking new “Star Map” LED daytime running lights, inspired by constellations. The front and rear bumpers feature a more aggressive, wing-like design, while the rear diffuser has also been redesigned.
But the most significant changes lie under the hood. The dual electric motors now deliver a staggering 650 horsepower, a 65 horsepower increase over the previous model. This impressive power output is unlocked thru a new Launch Control system, which also optimizes traction control for maximum acceleration. drivers can also select a GT mode, which dials back the power to a still-potent 609 horsepower.
Complementing the power boost is a larger 84 kWh battery, offering approximately 7 kWh more capacity then before.Kia promises that the increased battery capacity won’t compromise the EV6 GT’s impressive charging speeds, with a 10-80% charge still achievable in just 18 minutes.Despite the power increase, the EV6 GT retains its blistering performance figures. Top speed remains at 162 mph, and the 0-60 mph sprint is still dispatched in a mere 3.5 seconds. A new “Virtual Gear Shift” feature adds a touch of theatricality, simulating gear changes with accompanying sounds and torque adjustments.
Inside, the EV6 GT receives a redesigned steering wheel with a flat top and bottom, three spokes, and distinctive “rally stripes” at the 12 o’clock position. The yellow accent color, used on the brake calipers, also appears on the sports seats’ center stripes. The combined instrument and infotainment display has been updated with GT-specific graphics and now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2025 Kia EV6 GT is expected to arrive at dealerships in early 2025, with pricing details to be announced in January. The current EV6 GT starts at $72,990. Kia recently lowered the starting price of the standard EV6 models by $2,000 following its facelift.
