  • ‘IU Shared Sports Talent Sharing Practice Project’ to be expanded every year starting from 2022
“Establishing an exemplary regional cooperation model by linking local associations and schools”

Inje University announced on the 1st that it had successfully completed the ‘IU Shared Sports Talent Sharing Project’ for local youth in collaboration with the Gyeongnam Hockey Association.

According to Inje University, as part of the university innovation support project, this project will run ‘Elementary School Hockey Classes by Gimhae Region’ at Juchon Elementary School in Gimhae and ‘Visit Rowing Classes’ for disabled youth at Eunhye School from October 28 to November 1. We strengthened connections with the local community and provided youth with a variety of sports experiences.

In particular, Inje University student athletes shared their talents in various sports such as wrestling, soccer, hockey, and rowing, contributing to developing youth employment capabilities and volunteerism. The program, which started in 2022, has seen an increase in participation every year, with 1,632 youth in 2022, 1,826 in 2023, and more than 2,000 youth participating this year. Inje University plans to expand the number of participants to more than 3,000 each year.

The biggest feature of the program is that it is carried out in cooperation with sport associations such as the Korea Ssireum Association, Gimhae City Sports Association, and Gyeongnam Hockey Association, and local organizations such as the Gimhae City Sports Association for the Disabled. Through close cooperation between local schools and local governments, youth in the Gimhae region are encouraged to participate. We provide support so that you can experience a variety of sports. Inje University explained that this collaborative structure is evaluated as an exemplary model for the community and university to grow together, and is receiving attention as it is recognized as an excellent program at various award ceremonies.

Inje University President Jeon Min-hyun said, “We will communicate with the local community through sports and strive to realize the vision of Inje University’s All City Campus, a glocal university.” He added, “We will provide more opportunities to local youth by diversifying sports play content.” said.

Inje University plans to cooperate with the local community in the future to provide youth with a wide range of sports experiences to help them grow into talented individuals with competitiveness in employment.
