Kicking Off Community Spirit: Behind the Scenes of the 37th Kanto Koshinetsu Rugby Football Tournament
37th Kanto Koshinetsu Rugby Football Forty Year Old Tournament
The social gathering for the 37th Kanto Koshinetsu Rugby Football Forty Year Old Tournament was held, bringing together rugby players aged 40 and over from one prefecture and nine prefectures to enjoy interacting through rugby.
This tournament is an event where rugby players aged 40 and over from the Kanto-Koshinetsu region gather to enjoy interacting through rugby. Unlike baseball and soccer, rugby does not have an environment where people can enjoy it even after entering the workforce.
In order to create an environment where volunteers can come together and enjoy rugby among working adults in each prefecture in the Kanto-Koshinetsu region, teams are formed and a tournament called the Kanto-Koshinetsu Rugby Football Forty-Year-Old Tournament is held in a rotation in each prefecture each year.
This marks the first time the event has been held in Ibaraki Prefecture in 12 years, as it was canceled in some years due to the effects of COVID-19. We hope that all participants will fully demonstrate the results of their daily practice and teamwork, making this a tournament full of memories.
Of course, winning or losing is important, but we hope that rugby fans will also value the interactions they have with each other. Most of the participants were over 40 years old, but at the social gathering there were many people in their 60s and 70s.
We wish all participants the best of luck and ask them to take care of their injuries. We hope everyone will take their age and physical condition into consideration and play the game without pushing themselves too hard.
