Rectify the “Fake Gambling” in the Professional Football League

2024/09/10 09:54 CCTV News

The General Administration of Sport of China and the Ministry of Public Security will hold a press conference on the special rectification of “fake gambling and black” in professional leagues in Dalian, Liaoning.

CCTV reporter Yang Wei reports that the State Sports General Administration and the Ministry of Public Security will hold a press conference on the special crackdown on fake gambling and black-market football professional leagues at the Dalian Football Youth Training Base. The meeting includes relevant persons in charge of the State Sports General Administration and the Ministry of Public Security, as well as persons in charge of provincial and municipal sports bureaus, provincial and municipal football associations, and professional league clubs at all levels.

A series of corruption cases in the football field have now entered the final stage. After two intensive trials and sentencings in March and August this year, 10 people involved in the case have been sentenced, and another 6 have been tried in the first instance but have not yet been sentenced. In addition to legal sanctions, they also face internal penalties in the football industry.

The press conference will announce industry penalties for those involved in the case, such as internal industry penalties prohibiting them from working in football-related fields. The punishment results of the clubs involved will also be a focus of attention.

Since March this year, the entire sports system has been carrying out the crackdown on fake gambling in professional leagues step by step. A long-term mechanism for effective supervision is expected to be formed, and relevant measures will be released at the press conference. A healthy and exciting professional league is the foundation for the growth and development of Chinese football, and it should continue to be carried out in a fair, just, open, and transparent state.
