Igor Kagan, MD: Nephrologist and Physician Informaticist at UCLA Health
Igor Kagan, MD, serves as an assistant clinical professor at UCLA Health. His primary focus is direct patient care, encompassing outpatient clinics, inpatient services, and dialysis units. He also holds the position of associate program director for the General Nephrology Fellowship and is actively involved in medical education, teaching students, residents, and fellows.
Clinical interests
Dr. Kagan’s clinical expertise centers on a broad range of nephrological conditions, including general nephrology, chronic kidney disease, both home and in-center dialysis, hypertension, and glomerulonephritis. He also pursues interests in optimizing electronic medical records and functions as a physician informaticist.
Education and Training
A Los Angeles native, Dr. Kagan completed his undergraduate education at the University of California,Los Angeles (UCLA),graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business and economics. He was recognized for academic excellence with induction into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
He earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). Dr. kagan continued his postgraduate training at USC, completing both his internship and residency in internal medicine at los Angeles County and USC General Hospital.
Following his internal medicine residency, he pursued a fellowship in nephrology at the David Geffen school of Medicine at UCLA, with clinical training at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center. He subsequently joined the faculty at UCLA Health.
