Testimony Details Threats and Physical Abuse

According to the Kildare Nationalist, she told Judge Desmond Zaidan that her estranged husband verbally and physically threatened her, stating I’ll fu*k you up, and see what I can do to you?

She also testified in court that he had previously pushed her and poked her in the chest, noting that the physical abuse first began when their child was seven months old.

Disagreements Center on Child’s Health

Beyond the allegations of physical abuse, the case centers on severe disagreements regarding the health of their pre-school child.

According to The Irish Times, the husband reportedly doesn’t believe in the child’s diagnosed eating disorder. The mother detailed an incident to the court where the young child was bawling their eyes out looking for mama, and he told me not to go in there, as reported by the Kildare Nationalist.

Refusal of Counseling and Military Ties

When Judge Zaidan asked the woman why her husband was behaving this way, she responded that she had no idea and noted that she had asked for marriage counseling, which he refused.

She also confirmed to the court that her husband serves in the army.

Judge Reviews Sworn Statement and Sets Date

Judge Zaidan reviewed her pre-submitted sworn statement, asked if it was entirely true, and received a a hundred per cent affirmation before granting the interim protection order.

The full hearing in the matter was adjourned to November 10.
