Kilifi Pastor Arrested for Defiling Minor and Procuring Abortion

A 27-year-old pastor from Kilifi is in police custody. He faces accusations of defiling a 15-year-old girl, impregnating her, and helping her obtain abortion pills.

The incident occurred in September when the pastor allegedly lured the Grade 5 pupil to his house. On November 18, he gave her abortion pills after he learned she had missed her menstrual periods for two months.

The police arrested the pastor on Saturday morning at the girl’s home. He had visited the family, reportedly to address the situation. The girl’s father did not know about the abuse until the girl sought medical help for a miscarriage.

The father shared that he received a call from his wife about their daughter’s severe stomachache. At the hospital, doctors informed them of the miscarriage. Upon questioning, the daughter revealed that the pastor was responsible for her pregnancy.

Initially, the pastor kept his distance after the incident, but he contacted the girl last week regarding her missed periods. On the day he gave her the pills, the father reached out to him for help with medical expenses. The pastor then paid for the girl’s treatment at a private hospital.

The girl’s father stated that he had previously assisted the pastor by offering him land to build a house when he was without shelter. Despite being distanced from the pastor, the father’s wife and children attended his church services.

Following the incident, a bishop from the pastor’s church visited to discuss his arrest. A local child protection officer reported the case to the police. The father and daughter provided their statements on Saturday.

Kilifi North Sub-county Police Commander confirmed the arrest and said the pastor would appear in court on Monday.
