Kilkenny led by 13 points with just 13 minutes remaining, appearing to cruise to victory. However, Galway responded with a remarkable 1-06 run in just seven minutes, threatening Kilkenny’s lead. Kilkenny then regrouped to secure the win adn the Leinster SHC title.
The first half saw five lead changes, with kilkenny taking a 1-09 to 0-08 lead into the break thanks to a late goal.Adrian Mullen played a key role for Kilkenny, mirroring Galway captain Conor whelan’s roaming role and adding four points.

Galway mounted a late comeback, scoring four consecutive points before Cathal Mannion’s free found Brian Concannon, who scored a goal. Points from Cooney and mannion reduced the deficit to four points with four minutes remaining.
