VERONA, Italy –⁣ Tucked away in Vicolo Cittadella 12/A, Kill Coffee, a unique cafe in the heart of Verona, represents a bold venture by two engineers, Michelangelo Graziano and Jacopo Salaco. Their shared passion for specialty coffee and artisanal tonics led them to trade⁢ careers abroad in England⁣ and Oman for a new chapter in their hometown. as opening‍ in October 2022, ⁣Kill‍ Coffee has distinguished ⁤itself as an entirely vegan ⁣establishment, offering specialty⁤ coffee selections and house-made tonics. From Engineering ‍to Entrepreneurship:⁣ The Genesis of Kill Coffee

“Jacopo and I ‍met at ⁢university, and after some years working ⁢overseas, we began to envision a different future for ourselves,” Graziano⁣ said. Salaco pursued his interest in specialty‍ coffee, training at a prominent London cafe, while Graziano experimented with crafting tonic waters. “We⁢ wanted to create a space that ⁢combined these passions. We ‍developed the concept and business plan,refining our vision for the cafe,” he added. This led them⁣ back to verona, where they discovered a location near the ‍Verona Arena and, ‍through their own efforts, transformed it into ⁤Kill Coffee, opening its doors in late 2022.

Specialty Coffee and Artisan Tonics:‍ A Unique Offering

The cafe’s layout promotes a relaxed atmosphere. ⁢“The space is designed to be fluid, featuring a central counter, a communal table with seating for eight, sofas, and a small‍ stage area that⁣ can accommodate up to 15 people. We aim to minimize rigid structures, encouraging ‍patrons to move freely,” Graziano explained. Kill Coffee operates as a daytime cafe, ⁢open from 8:30 a.m.⁣ to 5:30 p.m., specializing in coffee from small, artisan roasters, many of which are based internationally. “we function as a multi-roaster bar, which means our coffee ‍blends are frequently updated,” he said. The cafe features roasters such as Friedhats and Dak from the Netherlands, Roasttery Dialect from england, ⁤and Peakocks and⁤ D612 from Italy.

Kill Coffee offers a variety of coffee ⁢extraction methods. espresso is available for €1.50, filter‍ coffee for €4, and⁢ cold brew during the summer months. graziano also crafts ‍a range of tonics and cocktails. “We offer three tonics,one of which⁤ rotates ⁤seasonally,all made in-house. I begin by infusing China bark in vodka, as ethanol is⁢ a superior solvent to water.⁣ I then‍ perform a hot infusion to evaporate ⁢the ⁤alcohol and add ⁣seasonal botanicals for flavoring.” The tonic selection includes the‍ spicy Indian tonic, the ‍Mediterranean tonic with rosemary,⁣ and a ⁢seasonal option, each priced at‍ €2.50. The cafe⁤ also serves tonic-based cocktails, incorporating artisanal bitters, starting at⁤ €4. Their signature cocktail is the ⁤Espresso Tonic.

Vegan Gastronomy at Kill coffee

Kill Coffee provides a curated vegan⁣ menu from morning until closing. “Everything is made in-house, and our⁣ menu is⁣ entirely vegan, featuring both sweet and savory options,” Graziano said. Sweet offerings include apple and cinnamon cake, ‍pear and⁣ chocolate cake, and almond and carrot cake, all priced at‍ €3.50. Savory choices range from croutons and open toasts to bruschetta with seasonal toppings, including the classic‍ avocado toast, with prices ⁤starting at €6. In addition to its culinary ⁣offerings, ⁤Kill Coffee hosts ‍a weekly yoga class on ⁤Monday evenings after closing.“We want Kill Coffee to be an open and ‍accessible space for⁤ everyone,⁣ a place for events, cultural activities, and even celebrations,” Graziano concluded.
