San Diego Comic-Con has once again served as a hotbed for exciting franchise news, and this year, the Predator universe is no exception.Director Dan trachtenberg revealed that a new cut of the animated Hulu film Predator: Killer of Killers is set to debut, featuring a surprise epilogue that ties directly into the original 1987 film and its sequel.
Iconic Predators return in “Killer of Killers” Epilogue
During a Hall H panel for the upcoming Predator: Badlands, Trachtenberg shared the thrilling news that the latest iteration of Predator: Killer of Killers will include an epilogue scene that brings back beloved characters from the franchise’s past. The scene reportedly showcases the characters of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch from the original Predator and Danny Glover’s Lt.Mike Harrigan from Predator 2.
The epilogue, which was screened at the panel, depicts predator warriors transporting floating coffins containing human bodies. The camera reveals the sleeping forms of Amber Midthunder’s Naru, followed by Glover’s Harrigan. Trachtenberg also confirmed that he had secured Schwarzenegger’s approval to use his likeness, ensuring the cameo is officially canon within the Predator saga. Trachtenberg humorously recounted having breakfast with Schwarzenegger, who quipped, “get to the waffles!” – a playful nod to Dutch’s iconic line, “get to the choppa!”
“Killer of Killers”: A Global Warrior Anthology
Released on Hulu on June 6th, Predator: Killer of Killers is an anthology film that explores the ferocity of human warriors across different eras. The movie follows three distinct characters:
A Viking Raider: Guiding her young son on a perilous quest for vengeance.
A Ninja in Feudal Japan: Turning against his Samurai brother in a brutal fight for succession.
A WWII Pilot: taking to the skies to investigate an extraterrestrial threat to the Allied forces.
While these warriors are formidable killers in thier own right, they find themselves facing a new and ultimate adversary – the Predator, the true “killer of killers.” The project was co-directed by Trachtenberg and Josh Wassung of animation company The Third Floor.
“Predator: Badlands” Set for November Theatrical Release
Adding to the excitement, Trachtenberg also confirmed that Predator: Badlands is slated for a theatrical release on November 7th. The film stars Elle Fanning in a story that promises to explore an unexpected alliance between her character, thia, and a young Predator. This latest installment is expected to further expand the rich lore of the Predator* franchise,offering a fresh perspective on the iconic alien hunter.
