Kim Gordon Releases ‘BYE BYE 25!’ with Words Reportedly Banned by Trump
Kim Gordon, known for her role in Sonic youth, has unveiled a new track titled ‘BYE BYE 25!’. This song reimagines ‘BYE BYE’ from her recent solo album, ’The Collective’, incorporating words that were reportedly restricted during the Trump administration.
The updated version of the song includes terms such as “advocate,” “climate change,” “female,” “Hispanic,” and “immigrants.” these words were reportedly targeted in an effort to curb “woke” initiatives.
Gordon explained the song’s genesis, saying producer Justin Raisen suggested reworking ‘bye Bye’ from the end. She then decided to incorporate words from a list of terms reportedly discouraged by the Trump administration, which would effectively cancel any project or research proposal including them. “I guess Trump does believe in cancel culture, because he is literally trying to cancel culture,” Gordon said.
‘BYE BYE 25!’ arrives ahead of planned “No Kings” protests against Trump scheduled for June 14 across the U.S. Sales of the track and related merchandise will support Noise for Now, a nonprofit focused on reproductive rights.
