Comedian Couple Seeks Match for Son on TV Show
SEOUL, South Korea – Comedians Kim hak-rae and Lim Mi-sook are turning to television in their quest to find a spouse for their son, Kim Dong-young. The couple appeared on the TV Chosun program “Lovers of Chosun,” aired May 5, 2025, to discuss their efforts.
Parents’ Desire for Grandchildren Fuels TV Appearance
During a preliminary interview on the show, the production crew inquired about the couple’s motivation for appearing on “Lovers of Chosun.” Lim Mi-sook expressed a desire for grandchildren, stating, “The children are not trying to get married early these days… We are over 70 years old, and you want to see your grandchildren and get married.”
Son’s Age a Factor in Parental Push
kim Hak-rae revealed that their son, Kim Dong-young, is 34 years old. “Thirty-five seemed to start slowing from it. I think it is,” he said, implying a sense of urgency regarding his son’s marital status.
Lim Mi-sook added, “Kim Hak-rae was not married in thirty-eight. The son is going to do more than thirty-eight. Dad also met her mother well even though she was late… There are no people like us these days. Who lived with a person like Kim Hak-rae.”
Son Expresses Focus on Career, Open to Blind Dates
The production team also interviewed Kim Dong-young, who acknowledged his parents’ intentions. “My parents came to our ‘Lovers of Chosun’ as they wanted to marry Dong-young,” he said.
However, kim Dong-young confessed, “I think it’s a little far away. I have a sense of crisis, but I thought it was more crucial than I thought about marriage. I think it was more time for me, investment for me, and business for me.”
Despite his focus on career and personal development, Kim Dong-young indicated a willingness to consider a blind date. “Mother, my father wants so much.If you have a good person, you may be married,” he said.
Parental Hopes for Ideal Daughter-in-Law
Kim Hak-rae expressed his hopes for his future daughter-in-law, stating, “My daughter-in-law is going to be good. I want to be good.”
