The September 28, 2025, final of the BWF World Tour Korea Open (Super 500) saw Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae claim victory at the Suwon Gymnasium in Suwon, South Korea. The Korean duo defeated their opponents to secure the men’s doubles title at the tournament, which ran from September 23 to September 28, 2025.

Korea Open Champions Crowned

The 2025 Korea Open, a Super 500 event on the BWF World Tour, featured a total prize pool of US$475,000. Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae’s triumph in the men’s doubles was a highlight of the competition. The tournament, the 25th of the 2025 BWF World Tour, has a long history, dating back to 1991, and is organized by the Badminton Korea Association under the sanction of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Beyond the men’s doubles, champions were also crowned in other disciplines. Jonatan Christie took the men’s singles title, while Akane Yamaguchi emerged victorious in the women’s singles competition. The women’s doubles crown went to Kim Hye-jeong and Kong Hee-yong, and Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping secured the mixed doubles title.

The prize money distribution reflected the Super 500 status of the event. The winners in the singles events each received $35,625, while the winning doubles teams earned $37,525. Finalists received $18,050, with semi-finalists taking home $6,887.50 (singles) or $6,650 (doubles). Further down the rankings, quarter-finalists earned $2,850/$3,443.75, those reaching the last 16 received $1,662.50/$1,781, and players/teams reaching the stages of 33/64 and 65/128 earned $2,220/$2,220 and $880/$430 respectively.

Point Distribution and BWF World Tour

The 2025 Korea Open also awarded points based on the BWF’s points system for Super 500 events. Winners received 9,200 points, followed by 7,800 for runners-up, 6,420 for those reaching the semi-finals, 5,040 for quarter-finalists, 3,600 for those in the last 16, 2,220 for reaching the 33/64 stage, 880 for the 65/128 stage, and 430 for the earliest rounds.

The Suwon Gymnasium served as the venue for the tournament, hosting badminton players from around the globe. The Korea Open continues to be a significant event on the BWF World Tour, attracting top talent and providing valuable ranking points for athletes vying for qualification in major championships.
