Somchai Sujjapongse, a fiscal policy expert, has been endorsed by his Majesty the King as the new chairman of the Bank of Thailand. The Prime Minister’s Office announced the appointment, which was published in the Royal Gazette adn became effective last Monday.
The cabinet had previously approved Somchai Sujjapongse’s nomination on April 22. He succeeds Porametee Vimolsiri, whose term as acting chairman concluded on Jan 16.
