King Gizzard to Blend ⁢Rock ⁣with Orchestral‍ Arrangements

King⁣ gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, known for their prolific output and ​genre-bending experimentation, ⁢are embarking on a⁢ new chapter. The Australian band, which has ‌released as manny as five albums in a year, is set to ⁢merge their rock sound with orchestral arrangements. This ⁢venture follows⁢ their recent albums, Flight b741 and Phantom Island, with⁢ the latter marking their first foray into heavy orchestration.

Stu Mackenzie discussed the band’s evolving sound and upcoming projects. He noted that the⁢ Hollywood Bowl performance in June ⁢2023 was the catalyst for exploring orchestral collaborations. Phantom Island, King Gizzard’s 27th album, delves ⁤into themes ‌of missing family, overcoming self-doubt, and viewing touring as a form of space travel.

Mackenzie spoke from rural Tennessee, before weather-related cancellations at Bonnaroo,‍ about the serendipitous nature of their musical journey. He emphasized the importance ‍of stepping outside familiar territory‌ to spark creativity.

The band’s orchestral shows will feature⁢ Sean O’Loughlin’s‌ adaptations of Chad Kelly’s ⁣scores.King Gizzard plans to perform Phantom ⁤Island in‌ its entirety,a rare treat⁤ for fans. it does feel very much like starting again in so many ways, which is actually the best feeling and something that ⁤we chase a⁢ lot. Sometimes things need just an extra bit of gestation,and I think that’s what this one is,” Mackenzie said of their‍ new synth explorations.
